This downloadable PDF resource, Informative 2 – Procedure & Explanation, provides a range of tasks that help students to structure and write effective procedure and explanation texts. The units provide appropriate examples of procedures and explanations and break down the key features and language elements of each text type, from creating and sequencing the text to analysing and formulating explanation statements and subheadings to the organisation of paragraphs and sequencing of events, to effective research strategies and use of flow charts and diagrams.

The accompanying activities develop reading and grammar skills, and allow students to practise each element and learn the building blocks for how to successfully plan, write and edit procedure and explanation texts
