About This PDF
This downloadable PDF resource has been written in response to requests from teachers for material to help their students practise for NAPLAN* (National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy) tests well in advance of the actual tests in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9. Many teachers would like the opportunity to familiarise their students with the format and likely content of the tests the year before their students take the test. Students who have had this preparation are more likely to succeed, and find the test less stressful, than if they have had little or no pre-test preparation.
The Year 4 Numeracy NAPLAN* resource is divided into two parts:
Part 1 – consists of 18 units. Each unit has a page of teaching notes and a student practice sheets.
- The units are grouped into the three new Mathematics Content Strands, as prescribed by the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA), for the National Curriculum. These strands are:
- Number & Algebra
- Measurement & Geometry
- Statistics & Probability
Part 2 – contains two printable tests in the NAPLAN format that contain questions from each of the three Content Strands.
- It is anticipated that students should be able to complete each of the tests in one normal lesson period as a trial of the actual test. However, teachers may prefer to divide the test into separate strands and consolidate the skills they have taught in Part 1 topic-by-topic (this information is provided on the Contents page).
* This is not an officially endorsed publication of the NAPLAN program and is produced by Blake Education independently of Australian Governments.
